Tomorrow marks the first day of our [now] 9-week challenge! One quick note before we dive in.....the more the merrier! Pass this along to your friends to get more participation. I will be willing to work with late enrollees for this week.
And now on to the kick off! Here are a few details that will help you get started.
Make sure you print off the individual tracking forms for weeks one and two. If you have any questions at all, just leave a comment here or email me. This information is also in the rules, but I have learned that I can never provide too much information (Guys!! You know who you are!).
- You will receive 1 point for every 15 minutes of exercise per day that you complete.
- Make it count! Get your heartrate up. You can exercise as much as you want/need, but you will only receive points for exercising up to one hour per day.
- Receive 3 points for each day that includes the fruit/veggie healthy eating habit. This will start as 3 cups of fruits and/or veggies.
- Receive 3 points for each day you drink 48 oz of water.
- This does not include the other liquids you may drink. No carbonated, caffeinated, or caloric beverages can be used to meet this goal.
- You will get 1 point for each day that you connect with your teammates.
- Having teammates to encourage you, provide support, (and maybe even do a little guilt-tripping) can be key to seeing real progress. Use your team! Make a plan to contact them daily via text, email, or a workout date to touch base on the challenge. If your teammate is your spouse, passing each other in the hall doesn't count. Make sure to spend some quality time (over a healthy dinner maybe??) to talk about the gameplan for the challenge.
This week’s bonus points are for completing the Adult Fitness Challenge under the President’s Challenge Program. Completing this will help you establish a baseline fitness level so you can track progress as the challenge progresses. Understanding your starting point is imperative to track your progress. You can find the challenge details, as well as the data collection form, are all available online here. Keep a copy of where you were at on the challenge so you can repeat it later in the 9-week challenge.
This week is all about establishing a foundation for your healthy challenge. Come back frequently to find posts with helpful recipes and tips to keep you going.
